Jon Netherland's painting technique has evolved independent of the traditional art school, as he is primarily self-taught. Each of his complete paintings is begun as a finished drawing, which is then transferred to illustration board. Then, with friskett mask applied, the background and primary features are airbrushed in with acrylic paint. Jon's precision masking is a painstaking process that requires a light touch, and a lot of patience. Finally, details are added with a brush, and Prismacolor colored pencil.
